πŸ“… Booking & Appointments
Why is every appointment at 8:30 AM?

Because that's how we protect your job's quality. When techs are mid-deep-job by 2 PM, making them break off to check in a new car kills both jobs. So everyone drops off at 8:30 AM, and the techs work without interruption all day. It's the same reason a good restaurant doesn't seat you in the middle of a service rush.

Can I drop off my car the night before?

Yes β€” we have a fenced and locked yard. Park it inside the gate after 5 PM, drop the key in the secure box by the door, text Deb at 706-633-8735 with what's wrong and what you need. We'll start at 8:30 AM the next day. Saves you the morning trip.

What if I need it faster than the next available slot?

We have a VIP Lift option β€” $1,200 for next-day priority or $1,800 for same-day. Locks in 4 hours of guaranteed bay time. The premium goes against your final bill if the actual repair total is less. See the VIP page β†’

Are you really closed Saturdays?

Yes. But Friday is pay-by-phone day β€” we can take your card payment and leave your car parked outside the gate for weekend pickup with the key in our secure spot. Just call by 4 PM Friday.

πŸ’΅ Pricing & Payment
Why aren't your prices listed on the website?

Because every job is different. A "brake job" on one car might cost $300; on another it's $900 because of caliper rebuild + master cylinder. We give you a real number after a real look, not an internet guess. And we put it in writing as a RANGE on unfamiliar work β€” never a fixed number on a blind job.

What's your labor rate?

$125/hr standard, $150/hr for transmissions, $150/hr for electrical work (because we can rebuild harnesses other shops can't), $150/hr flat for Volkswagens (because they're hard). Office time for warranty paperwork is $75/hr if the warranty company doesn't reimburse it.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes β€” all major cards. There's a 4% processing fee passed through (same rate the bank charges us). We also take cash, check, or Stripe via phone. No financing on our end, but we accept CarShield, Endurance, AAA, and most extended warranty providers (call us first to confirm yours).

Do you require a deposit?

For routine work β€” no. For larger unknown jobs (engine, transmission, VW electrical, anything we can't drive before we open it up) β€” yes, usually $2,000. The deposit goes against the final bill. We'd rather have skin in the game than fight over a bill at the end.

What's MDC Care?

It's a weekly subscription β€” $25 to $250 per week β€” where your money builds up at MDC, ready when something breaks. Like a savings account for your car. See the plans β†’

πŸ›‘ Warranty & Quality
What's your warranty?

It depends on the part. New OEM parts: 12 months / 12,000 miles. Jasper rebuilds: 24 months / unlimited miles. Electrical parts: 90 days (that's the real industry standard β€” anyone telling you otherwise is misleading). Used parts: NONE, because you saved money by choosing them. Workmanship: 12 months / 12,000 miles on everything we touch. We spell out your specific warranty on the invoice.

Can I bring my own parts?

No β€” and here's why: if you bring a part and it fails, you can't claim our workmanship warranty (because we didn't pick the part) and we can't claim labor reimbursement (because we didn't buy the part). Both sides lose. Our exception: $200 premium added to the labor if you absolutely insist β€” that covers the warranty risk we're absorbing.

Why don't you just put a new transmission in?

Because most transmissions can be REBUILT for a fraction of what a swap costs. We rebuilt a 10R80 for $1,400 that another shop quoted $10,000 to replace. Mike is one of the few independent transmission specialists in north Georgia who actually does this. If a rebuild won't work for your specific case, we'll tell you straight.

⏰ Time & Process
When will my car be ready?

We don't promise specific pickup times β€” because we'd be lying. Until the tech brings the ticket up, we don't know exactly when. We'll give you a RANGE ("done by Monday" or "this afternoon if parts arrive") and we'll text you when it's actually ready. That's the truth β€” we'd rather under-promise than make you wait.

What if it takes longer than the estimate?

Deb or David will call or text you BEFORE we go over. You either approve the additional time (with the new cost) or we wrap up at the next natural stopping point. You only ever pay for work you've approved.

My check engine light is on β€” should I keep driving?

Steady light = generally OK, but get it scanned soon. Flashing light = STOP DRIVING. Have it towed in. A flashing CEL means a misfire severe enough to damage your catalytic converter ($1,500+ if it goes). Call us before you drive: 706-900-9696.

πŸ‘₯ About the shop
Is Mike Cole really there?

Yes. Every day. Mike rebuilds the transmissions personally β€” not some hidden tech. He's a Jasper Master Technician with 40 years and just got back from the 10R80 class in Vegas. Meet the whole team β†’

Where are you located?

8204 Appalachian Highway, Mineral Bluff, GA 30559. Fannin County. We serve Blue Ridge, Mineral Bluff, Morganton, McCaysville, and the whole surrounding area.
